Greetings from Gemstone Farm!

**Due to the increased volume of calls we've been receiving we would like to update you on the status of our herd. We have litters due at the end of May, the beginning of June.  Those litters will be available for sale in July. Thank you for your patience and understanding! We look forward to helping you when we have pigs on the ground!!  You can also stay up to date on the latest news about our farm on our Facebook page. Gemstone Farm **

At Gemstone Farm, we are proud to offer our customers some of the finest heritage pork you’ve ever had, The Large Black, a breed that hails from Cornwall, England.

This special breed is characterized by great length and depth of body which produces a lean, micro-marbled meat that is extra tender due to the short muscle fibers. The cuts of pork are tender, moist and have an exquisite and unique taste.

A few important things about our Large Blacks:
  • Pasture raised from birth
  • They have a diet of acorns, hickories, walnuts, grass and plenty of fresh air and sunshine
In summer they get tomatoes, squash and greens from our garden and in the fall, all the pumpkins they want!
  • Non-gmo feed as a dietary supplement, which we source from a local mill, Beaver Creek Feed, out of Ava, Missouri
  • No growth hormones and no antibiotics
  • Medications only as needed under our vet's recommendation

Prepare to be surprised not only by the deep, rich red color of the meat, which is often confused with beef, but by the full rich flavor. The subtle, nutty undertones will thrill your taste buds!

We belong to the Large Black Hog Association, a group dedicated to seeing this breed thrive. As you can see from the pictures below our hogs have plenty of room to grow and thrive. If you’d like to hear more about our story, feel free to visit us on our Facebook page, our website or drop by the farm for a cup of coffee, a tour and good conversation. **Due to the coronavirus, please call or email for an appointment. We are putting a hold on farm visits at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this trying time.**
